It is my great honour to serve as Bangladesh Ambassador to China, a time-tested friend and one of the most important development partners of Bangladesh.

Our bilateral relations have been nurtured through frequent visits and intense people-to-people contacts. Our bilateral cooperation now covers a wide range of sectors: from trade in commodities to technical cooperation, from investments in manufacturing to defence collaboration, infrastructure building to education and culture, from water resource management to agricultural research, and so on. Today, Bangladesh is China’s third largest trading partner in South Asia with annual bilateral trade volume reaching US$ 10 billion. Many Chinese companies are now engaged in the implementation of various important infrastructure and development projects in Bangladesh.

The creative and diligent people of Bangladesh have made commendable progress in economic and social sectors with visionary supports from the government. Strategic geographic location with wide multi-modal international connectivity, preferential market access to major demand centers, rapid expansion of domestic demand with accelerated economic growth for more than a decade, thriving industrial base with a huge pool of highly competitive and motivated workforce, progressive upgradation of infrastructure, and continued pursuit of further improvement of the investment climate have turned the country into a land of enormous opportunities for investors. Significant growth in FDI inflow to Bangladesh in the recent years bears a clear testimony of lucrative investment opportunities in Bangladesh. Chinese private investment in Bangladesh has also experienced steady growth in the recent years. Establishment of the proposed Chinese Economic and Industrial Park in Bangladesh is expected to draw a substantial amount of Chinese investments to Bangladesh in the coming days.

There is ample scope of further expanding our cooperation with China in trade, investment, tourism, cultural exchange and in many other sectors.

The year 2015 marks an important milestone in our relationship, the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China. The Embassy will make all out efforts to seize the landmark occasion to further enhance and deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Bangladesh and China in the coming days.
